Accredited cord blood bank

AABB accredited

AABB (American Association of Blood Banks) accreditation is essential for a cord blood bank, since an accredited cord blood bank has to meet standards set out by this international organization. However, if a cord blood sample is stored in an AABB accredited bank it does not necessarily mean that the sample can be used for transplant when needed.  Suitability of a cord blood sample for transplant is determined by the number of cells stored.  Therefore, a good bank should be accredited by the AABB and in addition, should save more cells.  Progenics has been an AABB accredited bank for nearly four years and guarantees that more cells will be saved.
